Fill out blank cells in a spreadsheet range with suitable data using ChatGPT

This Smart Function identifies empty cells in a spreadsheet table and fills them with suitable values by analyzing the data in surrounding cells using ChatGPT. It's useful for creating dummy tables or completing missing data in real ones.

Note

It cannot be used as a formula. Run it from the Smart Functions menu.

Table

Blank cells in this spreadsheet range will be filled with related data based on the information in cells around them.
For Example: =SELECTED_RANGE or =A1:G28

Number of headers in the table

The number of header rows in the selected table range. This assists ChatGPT in understanding the table's structure more accurately, improving the filling of blank cells. Most tables have 1 header row.
Options: 1, 2 or 3

Result Location

A spreadsheet range where a filled table will be posted. If it should be the same as Table skip this input.
For Example: =C1:G28 or =C1

Edit within formulas

If enabled, ChatGPT views the original text of spreadsheet formulas instead of their results. This can be useful for filling in formulas in blank cells.

Options: FALSE or TRUE

Use Knowledge Base

When activated, this feature allows the function to access data from the spreadsheet's Knowledge Base to fill in empty cells within the Table. This is useful for accurately filling tables that require specific information from the Knowledge Base.

Use Knowledge Base II

When activated, the Smart Function uses Knowledge Base sources to fill the table at a later stage. This is particularly helpful when used with Additional Instructions and the Use Thinking Process options enabled.

Use Web Search

When activated, it enables the function to fetch data from the internet, adding a layer of real-time information from a Google search. While this feature can provide better filling of the Table, it increases execution time and cost.

Creativity

Creativity level of ChatGPT when filling blank cells in a spreadsheet table, where higher values indicate more creativity and lower values lead to more deterministic outcomes. A creativity level higher than 50 may destroy the results.
For Example: 0, 20, or 100

Act Like

A role, profession, or perspective for the ChatGPT to adopt when filling the Table; this parameter guides the AI in providing more context-specific or specialized results.

Additional Instructions

Additional information or instructions for a better or more specific spreadsheet filling.
For example: Use the metric system, Description should be 120 chars short, or ="Remember this: " & =B2

Model

Model affects quality, speed, and tokens count of tokens to use. We choose the optimal model by default, and here it's gpt-4-16k. Information about models.
Options: Default, gpt-4, gpt-3.5-turbo, or gpt-3.5-turbo-16k

Max Tokens

Number of tokens that can be used per function execution. By default, it is set to a reasonable value to protect your balance from unwanted spending.

1 token ≈ 4 chars in English
1 token ≈ 3/4 words
100 tokens ≈ 75 words
1-2 sentences ≈ 30 tokens
1 paragraph ≈ 100 tokens
1,500 words ≈ 2048 tokens

Search Filter Tags

Tags filter Knowledge Base sources for table filling, improving the resulting quality. First, add tags to the Knowledge Base sheet. Then, activate 'Use Knowledge Base' or 'Use Knowledge Base II' to make these tags work.
